Obituary of Patricia J. Mallinson R.N.

     Patricia J. Mallinson, R.N.,  82, of Indian Road, Fort Plain passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam following a long illness. She was born in North Carolina, May 3, 1937, daughter of the late Roy and Violet Gifford Murphy. She married Orin Mallinson of New Jersey on June 6, 1956. They were married for over 50 years and resided in various townships in New Jersey before relocating to Fort Plain in 1970, where they operated a small family dairy farm.

Pat was a talented artist, selling her artwork in various venues including Picture Perfect in Canajoharie, an art cooperative in Cooperstown, and fiber festivals around the northeast. She explored many mediums, but animals were her specialty. A registered nurse, she worked at the Palatine Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Catholic Charities and Gentiva Health Services. She enjoyed driving draft horses and mini horses and was a member of the Eastern Regional Draft Horse Association. With this group, she and her family enjoyed taking many of the club's horse events including an overnight wagon trip. She loved to spend time with her family and dogs, especially playing games and celebrating at a fire pit. She will be sadly missed.

Her loving family includes three daughters, Kim (Luke) Lester of Blacksburg, Virginia, Lynn Mallinson (Solomon Bowleg) of Rochester and Heidi Mallinson (Tarek Sammakia) of Denver, Colorado, one son, Sean J. Mallinson of Stone Arabia, six grandchildren, Patrick Lester of Chicago, IL, Hannah Lester of Blacksburg, VA, Ian and Christopher Barnett of Rochester, Joel Barnett of Sare Mamadi, The Gambia and Olive Niccoli of Clinton, one sister, Carol LaVigne of Sanford, FL and a brother, Richard Murphy of New Hope, PA.

Pat's family will receive relatives and friends today, Sunday, February16, 2020, at her home, 633 Indian Road, Fort Plain, NY from 2:00PM to 5:00PM and Monday, February 17, 2020 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
