Obituary of Hidania Diane Valentin

Hidania Diane Valentin, 77, passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on Wednesday February 12, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones.

Hidania was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico to Carlos Roman and Angelina Rivera Roman on July 29, 1942. She later emigrated to the lower East Side of Manhattan, NY where she lived until moving to Amsterdam in 2008.

Hidania is survived by her daughters Nancy Valentin and Debbie Valentine and son Edward Valentin, she is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.

Hidania was preceded in death by her parents Carlos and Angelina, as well as by her siblings; Carlos, Tony and Cookie.

Hidania, formerly known as Diane, was a young-hearted, independent, outspoken, strong-willed grandmother and mother. In her time in the lower east side, Hidania worked as a Diamond Setter at the Jewelry Exchange on Canal Street. She was a very socialable, humorous and hard-working individual. Hidania was a teacher, she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook, clean, paint, put tiles down and hook equipment up. She valued family and held every holiday gathering at her home. Hidania loved music and to dance. She also loved to cook and always made enough to go around. 

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on February 17,2020 from 11:00AM until 12:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave in Amsterdam. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon the same day at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date to be announced at the Chuctanunda Cemetery, 155 Buhrmaster Road, Minaville, NY 12010.
