Ed Caputo was my godfather ... I have always held this as a special thing. The Caputos lived around the corner from my grandparents (I can’t remember the name of the street). My parents, Monica and Nelson Kiernan, had a relationship important enough to ask him to accept responsibility for my spiritual life (I guess that’s what a godfather does). I grew up, moved away, and had no contact until Mr. Caputo moved in around the corner from my parents’ house. He gave us the loveliest tomatoes, tours of his garden, and neighborliness. Until I read this obituary, I had no idea he was an artist by trade. It was obvious from his garden, he was an artist in heart and mind. I am honored to have known him, and to carry this special sort of relationship, as ephemeral as it may be. I send condolences from the Kiernans.

Dear Julie and Donald;
Our sincerest sympathy and condolences upon hearing of your father's passing.
What a wonderful tribute to him and his many many accomplishments throughout his life.
He was a very caring man who easily made friends. I know if my sister Anita was here today ,we would be talking about the time when we were about 5or 6 years old and he gave us a ride in his red MG convertible. Anlta lived close by and often in her walks was able to visit your dad when he was outside.
It has been many years since we have seen one another but we are forever family whether near or far.
Our Love and God's Blessings to both of you and God's Eternal Blessings to your father.
Henry and Carolyn and Mike DiCaterino

To Eddie's son and daughter, my sincere condolences for your loss. I knew Eddy from our bi-weekly golf group at Nick Stoners. We played a scramble format whereby we would draw numbers each day to make up teams. It was always an advantage to have Eddie on your team. Why would you want a man in his late 80's and early 90's on your team? Because, in many rounds he would either chip in from off the green or make one of those long breaking putts. What a great short game he had and he was a pleasure to be around with his wonderful sense of humor.

Ed was my mentor at Baronet Litho.
We both went to NYC to open a sales office, and every Monday morning at 4am Ed would pick me
up and down to the city we would go, staying in double room at the Travelers Lodge on 42nd street.
We ate together, worked as a team, did paper work at night together and rode back to Gloversville on Thursdays.
I have never been able to thank him enough for his caring and guidance. God Bless ED.
