Obituary of Josephine Marie Petrosino

Josephine Marie Petrosino was welcomed into heaven on December 26, 2019.  She was born in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of Luigi and Concetta (Testa) Materazzo. She met Joseph Petrosino and they happily married in 1948, making a life as a homemaker and working in the knitting mills of Amsterdam as a seamstress. She loved to sew, make pasta, and cook comfort food for her family. She would never let anyone leave her home hungry. The genuine kindness, resilience and passion of taking care of her family and friends made her a truly remarkable and unforgettable woman. The strength and wisdom she imparted to all of us will carry her spirit indefinitely.

Left to cherish Josephine’s memory is her loving family, daughter Gail (Michael) Marotta; grandchildren Sharon (Rick Dusenbury) Petrosino and Kristina Marotta; great-granddaughter Brittani (Jeremiah) Thompson; great-great-granddaughter Adeline Thompson; siblings Pat (Josephine) Materazzo, Elvira (Steve) Simeone and Susan Rowley, as well as many nieces and nephews. Josephine is now reunited with her dear husband Joseph, her beloved son David, parents, and sisters Ann Materazzo and Natalie Biasini.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Josephine’s life at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, on Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 5 to 7 PM.  A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 3, 2020, at 1:30 PM at the funeral home with Father Pascal “Pat” Iannotti. Burial will follow in the family plot next to her dear husband at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Josephine’s wishes in lieu of flower contributions are to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
