Obituary of Hank Zaleski
Mr. Henry “Hank” E. Zaleski Jr., 86, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 13, 1933 to Henry Sr. and Marie (Metz) Zaleski, he was united in marriage to Sandra Smith on January 1, 1970, and they’ve shared the last 49 years together.
Henry was a hard worker, and spent 50 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator for various construction companies. He spent the bulk of his career with Gulott Construction in Schenectady.
Hank was notably an all-around outdoorsman, but one sport he held particularly dear was fishing. He could never wait for his next chance to get to his fishing spot near the lock. Hank had many other hobbies over the years, including bowling, which he was a natural at.
His loving family includes his wife, Sandra (Smith) Zaleski, his children; Dori (Bruce) Baldwin, Don and his fiancée Wendy, and Rich (Missy) Zaleski, his grandchildren; Aaron, Bobby, DJ, Jennifer, and Terri, his sister, Gloria, as well as many great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also an animal lover, and treated his pets as family. He leaves behind his beloved feline companion, Frosty.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, with Father O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home.
