Obituary of Theresa M. Quackenbush
Mrs. Theresa M. Quackenbush, 88, died peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019 following a brief illness surrounded by her family. Born in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late Homer and Frances Horning Hill.
A lifelong area resident, Theresa was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She worked for many local companies including Ward Products, Noteworthy, The Maxwell Diner and Sunoco Products. An avid bowler, Theresa was a member of the Amsterdam Bowling Association for many years serving as Secretary.
On August 6, 1950 she was united in marriage to Arnold G. Quackenbush. Together for 57 years, they made their home on University Place and had a blessed life until his passing in 2007. She was also predeceased by her sons, Richard and Bruce; siblings, William (Mary) Hill, Felicia (James) Fisher; and her niece and nephew, William Frye and Barbara Rivera. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Marie Bell and her husband Francis; one granddaughter Melissa Buanno and her husband Carl; ones sister, Dolores Frye; two great grandchildren, Zaye and Laine. Beloved extended family members include, David and Mary Hope Frye, Cheryl and Louie Aquilla, Crystal Frye, Michael and Heather Fisher, Shannon Maher, Jenni and David Nicoella, Penny and Frank Hutchins, William Hill, Jean Barker, Richard and Barbara Bell, Geraldine and Jack Crane; her dear friends, Joyce Nicholas and Shari Dailey; and several great nieces and great nephews.
The family wishes to extend and special thanks to Hillcrest Springs, River Ridge and St. Mary’s Hospital for the wonderful care Theresa received.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 6:30p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072 with Deacon Michael Ryba officiating. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 4:30p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery.
