Obituary of Gertrude L. Yost

Gertrude “Trudy” Yost, age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 16, 2019 to be with her Lord and Savior while at the Mountain Valley Hospice.  She was born on October 27, 1930 to the late Albert and Mary Borst in Albany.  She graduated with an elementary education teaching degree from Oneonta in 1952 and went on to teach the children of the Gloversville Enlarged School District from 1953 to 1986.  She was a very social, kind, and caring woman who enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, reading, and playing bingo and cards with her friends at the Willing Helpers Home for Women where she most recently resided.  She loved being around little children who always brought a smile to her face.  Her greatest joy was being with her family and two grandsons who she cherished most of all.  Trudy was a faithful member of the Mayfield Presbyterian Church and former member and officer of the Gloversville Senior Citizens.  She was predeceased by her 7 siblings, her husband, Harold Yost in 2004, and son, Bruce Yost in 2016.  She is survived by her two daughters Deborah (Gary) Lair of Gloversville, Colleen (Gary) Ulrich of Mayfield, and twin grandsons Tyler Ulrich of Arlington, MA, and Christopher Ulrich of Media, PA.  

The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00-12:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM with Reverend Bonnie Orth officiating.  Interment will take place in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
