Obituary of Constance Y. Hawkins

     Mrs. Constance Y. Hawkins, 93, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday evening November 21, 2019 at the River Ridge Living Center LLC following a brief illness.

     Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 2, 1925 a daughter of the late Joseph and Marthe Nedzynski Kowalski.  She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and attended Amsterdam Schools.

     Constance was employed as a Switchboard Operator for St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam for 25 years retiring in 1997.  She was a member of the St. Mary’s Seniors and was of the Roman Catholic Faith.

     She married Harry H. Hawkins on August 31, 1946.  He passed away on June 10, 1975.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (Anthony) DeStefano of Amsterdam.  Sisters, Elizabeth Perillo of  West Palm Beach Florida and Frances Medwid of Amsterdam.   Cherished grandchildren, Suzanne DeStefano of Amsterdam and A.J. (Elizabeth Spencer) DeStefano of Amsterdam.    One great grandson,  Antonio  ”Nino” J. DeStefano.  Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.  

    In addition to her husband she was predeceased by brothers, Francis Kowalski, Thomas Kowalski and Joseph Kowalski.   

     A Private Funeral Service was held at the convenience of the family.  Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ft.
