Obituary of Karl R. Braender

     Mr. Karl R. Braender, 78, of Amsterdam , NY, passed away on Saturday November 23, 2019 at the River Ridge Living Center LLC, where he resided for  four years.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 2, 1941 a son of the late Fred J. Braender and Emily Palmer.  He was raised in Amsterdam and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. 

    Karl was a US Navy Veteran serving from 1958 to 1962 aboard the USS Hermitage and USS Rushmore.  While in the Navy,  Karl was a professional boxer.    He later was employed by the former Bojud Knitting Mill in Amsterdam and later was the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor for Wal-Mart in Ormond Beach, Florida. 

    Karl loved going to the Saratoga Race Course and OTB with his brother George.  While living in Florida he loved going to the Dog Track with his daughter Karleen.  He also enjoyed Ceramics and woodworking. 

     He married Freda Frederick on November 27, 1972.  She passed away on September 19, 2001.  

He is survived by his three daughters,  Doreen Braender of Amsterdam, Sarah Braender (Joe Klingbeil) of Mechanicville,  Karleen (Richard) Mcfarland of Alabama, Three sons, Karl (Coleen) Braender of Amsterdam,  Sean (Donna) Quinn-Braender  of Lions, NY and Kevin (Valerie) Mesick-Braender of Amsterdam.  One Brother, George (Susan) Braender and Sister, Mary Lou Flesh (Stephen Dodson) of Arizona.  Fourteen grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by brother,  Fred J. Braender Jr. and step-brother, Wayne Flesh.

Entombment of Cremated Remains will be in the Columbarium Wall at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY on Wednesday December 4, 2019 at 11:30 AM with Military Honors.
