Obituary of Ruth Campanile

Mrs. Ruth Campanile, 102, of Gloversville, NY died on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Nathan Littauer Hospital with her beloved son by her side. 

Born in Gloversville, NY on February 8, 1917 she was the last living child of the late Vincent and Edith Barone Savarese.  As a young child, Ruth moved with her family, living in Philadelphia, PA, Jersey City, NJ and eventually moving back to Gloversville, NY.  She attended Gloversville High School and worked in the glove industry for many years, retiring from Bachner Gloves Inc. in 1979.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Ruth was noted for her baked goods that she shared with family and friends.  She also enjoyed reading magazines, watching game shows, talk shows and musical programs on the television.

On May 29, 1938 she was united in marriage to Lewis Campanile at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Gloversville.  They had a wonderful marriage that spanned 67 years until his passing on April 25, 2005.  She was also predeceased by her siblings, Alfonso Savarese, Anthony Savarese, Elvira Mancini, Eleanor Pezzella; Helen Colistra; and one nephew.

Survivors include her devoted son Gerald Campanile of Gloversville, NY with whom she resided; a special niece, Patricia Colistra Nunno of Auburn, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
