Obituary of Rose Marie Dominguez
Rose Marie Dominguez, 99, of Amsterdam and most recently of River Ridge Living Center LLC., passed away on Wednesday October 23, 2019 with her loving family at her side.
Born in Moriah, NY on August 7, 1920 a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Grandy Ida. She was raised in Mineville, NY and was a graduate of Mineville High School.
Rose was first employed during the summer as a chambermaid and a sous chef at the Stable Inn in Westport, NY. She also was employed by JJ Newberry in Ticonderoga, NY. She last worked as a clerk at the Grand Union Grocery Store in Port Henry, NY retiring from there in 1968.
She was a communicant of Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the Sir William Johnson Seniors and the Perth Seniors. She enjoyed baking , crocheting, word search, crafting and spending time with her family.
She married Anthony G. Dominguez on September 1, 1940. They were married 57 years before he passed away on September 8, 1997.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Dolores Carriola of Amsterdam. One brother, John (Lola) Ida of Clifton Park, NY. Grandchildren, John A. (Desiree) Carriola of Clifton Park, NY, Benjamin Dominguez of Tolland CT and Sarah Veilleux of Bristol CT. Great-Grandchildren, Gabriel Carriola, Desiree Nicole Macaluso, Noah Carriola and Hailey Rose Carriola, Anthony Veilleux and Cooper Veilleux. Daughter-in-law, Sandra Dominguez of Tolland, CT. Several nieces , nephews and cousins also survive.
She was predeceased by her son, Anthony M. Dominguez on Nov. 6, 1999 and her dear brothers, Patrick, Joseph, Frank, Dominick and Louis Ida and son-in-law, John Carriola who passed away on April 29, 2015.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday October 30, 2019 at 11:30AM at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Jeffrey M. L’Arche, M.S. as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday prior to the Mass beginning at 9:45AM in the Chapel at Historic St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam, NY.
