Obituary of Richard Otto Lasky
Mr. Richard Otto Lasky, of Amsterdam NY, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday October 4th, 2019, following a short illness. Born on August 20, 1929 in Amsterdam NY, the son of the late Henry Otto Lasky and Esther Marie Pankonin.
Richard worked at General Electric until he retired. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He truly loved his grandchildren and attended as many school and sport functions as he could. Towards the end of his life, Richard enjoyed roaming around Amsterdam, going to area casinos, reminiscing about his early life with his family, and collecting coins. He never missed mass on Sunday, a true Catholic, making sure his family was always in his prayers. He was a proud Veteran who served in the Korean War. He enjoyed telling stories about GE, the Great Depression, and found any way to save a dollar. He was an avid walker and coffee drinker. His true joy in life was his wife and he never wavered from the Lord, always doing the right thing.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Julia Savocchio, of 59 years, whom he married on February 2, 1958. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Rossi; his daughter, Marisa (Fred) Danise; his sons, Raymond (Kim) Lasky, William (Becky) Lasky; his grandchildren, Richard Lasky (Kirsten Mench), Jennifer (Dave) Sanders, Jeremy (Amanda) Lasky, William (Destinee) Lasky, Benjamin (Kayla) Lasky, Britteny Lasky (Jonathan Marcellino), Juliana Danise, Matthew Danise, Jonathan Danise, Justin Danise; his great-grandchildren; Juliana, Joey, Savannah, James, Benjamin, and Natalie; as well as nieces, nephews, and his special cousin Jodi.
Richard is at peace now with his wife, father, mother, and nine brothers and sisters.
At the request of the family services will be private. Private Interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Amsterdam. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
