I never had the privilege of meeting Mr. Reilly. However, I feel like I knew him from the stories his daughter, Colleen, would tell of her dad. How he love wrestling and was a marvelous mentor to the kids he taught. I believe Colleen inherited her love of teaching from her father. My dear friends, Colleen & Kathy... I can't imagine the pain you are going through this year with the passing of two beloved parents. My heart goes out to you both. Love & Hugs, Bonnie

Coach was retiring as my brother and joined the team but coach was still there, involved. I enjoyed the time on the wrestling team as a manager. He made me feel appreciated for the work done to keep the mats clean and ready. As well as all the other background tasks we completed. His simple conversation that we always had is still with me. RIP Coach.

Coach Reilly was a coach who instilled a sense of hard work and discipline to all members of his team. I wrestled for Amsterdam from 1968-69. He was an inspiration and role model for all who had the privilege of knowing him. My brother scored the first pin for the Rams in 1966, the first year Amsterdam had a wrestling program. Coach will be missed by all, but his Teaching of hard work, discipline and persistence will live on. Thank you Coach Reilly! RIP.

Coach,
Your teaching, words of wisdom, and coaching from the classroom to "THE PIT" will be forever ingrained in my soul. You taught me compassion and discipline. I've carried these teachings through these 40 years, and tried to instill them into my own children.
My thoughts are with Mrs. Coach, Colleen and Doreen. I share in your sorrow.
With much love,
"Big Ugly Bear" Kevin Vogel

Being one of AHS’s wrestlers in 1967-68, Coach Reilly taught me a lot about self discipline and the value of hard work. After.graduating in 1968, his guidance got me thru College and a teaching career in mathematics. His influence on me also led me to coaching high school wrestling along with football here in western ny. It is as time passes we reflect on those individuals that have shaped our lives. Coach Pat was one of them. Rest assured God will have a special place for him. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Andy Fusco York HS (retired)

I remember when Mr. Reilly first came to Laurel High School, in Laurel Maryland. He was so different from any teacher I’d ever had. He didn’t only teach history, he brought it to life. He took historical figures and made them into real people. That was when my love of history, especially American history, began, and has continued...and will continue for the rest of my life.
He was a great teacher, a fantastic wrestling coach, and an all-around good person. My condolences to his family, and my thanks that I was fortunate enough to have him as a teacher.

I was very sad to read about Coach Reilly's passing.
I first met him when I was in elementary school through the pee wee wrestling program. He was excited, energetic and all about the program and sharing his love of the sport with others. He was kind but also set high expectations for you.
I loved when Coach Reilly was our substitute social studies teacher. You knew it was going to be great. He did this awesome presentation on medieval trade with Asia, his presentations on the French Monarchy was awesome. He still also had high expectations. In one of those classes he felt we were not living up to our potential did he let you know.
I think, perhaps the greatest thing he taught was a love of community and the importance that we be engaged and giving back. He was a pillar of our community and a man for whom we are all more blessed for having known.
Thank you coach!

I am so happy I go to see him again at my Laurel High School 50 year reunion (1965). I wasn't a wrestler, of course, but I was a history geek and he was a great history teacher. I will never forget how much he enjoyed teaching. It must have impressed me because my second husband was a history/social studies teacher with many of Mr. Reilly's ways of teaching and caring about his students. Beloved and never to be forgotten, sir. You were an example of how a teacher can inspire. Blessings to his family.

I’m so sorry to hear about Pat’s passing, Audrey. Pat was truly one of a kind. I had the great honor to work with him as an assistant coach for 7 years. I always looked up to him as a coach, teacher, mentor and most of all as a good friend. We shared many wrestling tournaments together through the years. He always made you feel good when you were in his presence. He was the first person I met up here in Amsterdam when I first got my teaching job back in August of 1976. I’m forever grateful for the things that i’ve Learned from you and Pat. He was well respected by all his former wrestlers and his fellow coaches. He touched many lives and will always be remembered as a truly good person. My deepest condolences to Audrey and family at this time.

My first year teaching and I got stuck with Global when all I studied in college was U.S. history. Pat takes me to his room, opens up and says, “take whatever you want. If you need something, let me know.” My first mentor at AHS and a legend. Always stayed involved years after retirement because he knew it’s not just a career but a calling. You will be missed tremendously my friend. My sincerest condolences to your family.
