Obituary of Allegra Janet Fancher Butler
Allegra Janet Fancher Butler, 76, of Tribes Hill passed away September 13, 2019. She was born on the family farm on Fancher Road in Summit, NY on December 12, 1942, and is the daughter of the late Albro and Genevieve (Myers) Fancher.
She is survived by her four children: sons John A. (Colleen Paige) Butler Jr. of Dunedin Florida, Jeffrey A. (Sharon) Butler of Tribes Hill, Jason A. (Janice) Butler of Tribes Hill and her daughter Janet A. (Glenn) Sebast of Fort Myers, Florida. Also surviving her are her sister Florence (Rod) Warner of Virginia and her brother Arnold (Noreen) Fancher of Howes Caves; eight grandchildren: Stacia (Doug) Turner, Marissa (Tim) Maness, Katrina (Adam) Kruse, Darius Butler, Ariel H. Butler, Lydia Butler, Eve Butler, and Ashlyn Butler; ten great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by three brothers: Walter Fancher, Glen Fancher, and Marcus Fancher, and sister Mabel Hyde.
When growing up on the farm, she managed the milk-cows, walking them to the pasture. As a teenager, she enjoyed the youth group at First Summit Baptist in Charlotteville where she accepted Jesus as Savior and was baptized. She was a 1961 graduate of Richmondville High School.
During her lifetime, Allegra was a seamstress, assembly line worker, bus monitor and cleaner. She worked at Mohawk Sportswear, Breyers’ Leather, U.S. Foodservice, Don Brown Bus Sales and Brown Transportation. She especially enjoyed helping with Special Ed. children as a bus monitor.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, doting on them whenever she had a chance. One of her favorite things to do was take family members out for breakfast. She was a constant patron of Jackie’s Place in Broadalbin. She also enjoyed travelling and taking trips with her friends.
Allegra was her own person and always ready to share her opinion. Despite the difficulties she faced throughout her life, she was determined to overcome and endure. It can be said that those who met her will not forget her. She was known for her perseverance, loyalty, generosity, and strong work ethic. She will be greatly missed as a mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday September 19, 2019 at 11 AM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, officiated by Rev. Greg Meyers and Rev. J.A. Butler. Burial will follow at Pinegrove Cemetery, with Rev. Glenn Sebast officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM.
