Obituary of Nicholas W. Lewis Sr.
Nicholas W. Lewis Sr. went to be with his eternal father in heaven on August 27th, 2019. He was 71 years old. He was born April 11th, 1948 in the Bronx, NY to John P. Lewis, later to become the son of Nancy Altisi. Nick was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served overseas in Korea. He was honorably discharged on April of 1970, ranking as SP4 in military intelligence. After his time in the service, he worked for Conrail and retired after 43 long years as a Yard Master. In his later years, he formed The Bronx Boys Doo-Wop group and made many fond memories singing alongside his brother John.
Nick will be remembered for his comedic road rage and his love for oldies, karaoke, animals, food, duct tape and glitter and the New York Yankees. Above all else, he will be remembered for his selfless dedication to his children. It is impossible to put into words the character of the man he was. The world has suffered a monumental loss and his kind, generous soul has earned a special seat on the other side.
He is survived by his older brother John, his eight children Kimberly, Bridget, Candice, Michael, Julia, Nicholas, Laura and Mary, three inherited children Charles, Joseph and Marc, 29 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Brinley to which he spoiled like no other.
He is predeceased by his grandson Jonathan, his mother, father and Brother Richard, and many pets to which he deeply loved.
Funeral services will take place on Sunday September 1, 2019 at 3 PM with Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 3 PM.
Honoring Nick can be done without charitable contribution to any organization. To honor Nick, carry his spirit forward by putting family first and spending this precious time here on earth making great memories with those you love.
