Obituary of Abraham Santiago
Abraham M. Santiago, 65, of Amsterdam passed away on August 12, 2019 at the Richmond Center in Staten Island, NY.
Abraham was born on October 25, 1953 to the late Eugenio Santiago and Elsa Maria Rios in Amsterdam, NY. He attended local schools graduating in 1971. From 1973 to 1974 Abraham served his nation proudly in the U.S. Air Force as a carpenter, and went on to work at various companies before beginning his employment at St. Mary’s Hospital in the maintenance department.
Abraham dedicated much of his time to the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam where he served as a Deacon for two years. In his free time he enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Yankees fan, he also loved spending time with his wife Marilyn, and his beloved children and grandchildren.
Abraham is survived by his loving companion and wife Marilyn Warner, his “Honey”, as well as his daughter Alisa Santiago-Hobb. He also leaves behind his dear Uncle Norbert, Aunts Daisy and Rachel, his sisters Connie Losada, Teresa Colon, Missy Rios, Elsa Buseck, and Yolanda Carmona, brothers Rafael Santiago, Richard Santiago, and Norbert Santiago, step daughters Theresa Denton, Lori McGuire, Brenda Warner, and Tammy Warner, and step sons Doran Warner, and Timothy Denton. He also leaves behind 18 step grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugenio Santiago and Elsa Mario Rios, as well as his brother Moses Santiago.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 4p.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday August 16 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Abraham’s memory to the Montgomery County SPCA or a charity of your choice.
