Obituary of Margaret Quackenbush
Mrs. Margaret G. Hyatt Quackenbush, 94, of Robb Rd., Amsterdam, passed away Monday August 12, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 30, 1924 a daughter of the late Ward and Margaret Trackson Hyatt. She attended St. Mary’s Institute and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Margaret was an LPN and Nurse’s Aide and was employed by St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam. She took great care of her family and always put others before herself. She enjoyed spending her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post #701 Auxiliary in Amsterdam, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sisters of the Swish. She also was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
Margaret married Hazlett J. Quackenbush on Feb 16, 1947. He passed away on May 27,2015. Survivors include her children, Katherine Quackenbush (Michael) Blair of Troy, NY, Lawrence J.(Chuck Hansen) Quackenbush of Albany, NY, Martin A. (Linda) Quackenbush of Niskayuna, NY, Patricia M.(Debra Boone) Quackenbush of Virginia , Roberta L. (Walter) Trench of Florida, Robert J. Quackenbush of Amsterdam and William E. Quackenbush of Amsterdam. Cherished grandchildren, Rebecca, Joseph, Katie, James, Kayla, Lauren, Jennie, Jared Nicole, Christina, Melissa, Martin, Sean, Stephen & Tiffany. Fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Margaret was predeceased by her son Daniel P. Quackenbush who passed away in April 14, 2014, brother, Leonard Hyatt and sister, Eileen Hyatt Dean.
The Family of Margaret G.Hyatt Quackenbush would like to express their deepest gratitude to their mom’s personal aids Kathleen,Sherri and Lisa who went above and beyond in caring for their mom. The family would also like to thank Dr.Sheridan as well.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday August 15, 2019 at 11:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Fr. Jeffrey M. L’Arche M.S. presiding. Interment will follow at 2:00PMat the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home from 9:00 to 11: 00AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam C/O the funeral home.
