Dear Maria and Tom I’m short on words that would ever express how extraordinary your Mom was. Countless people were blessed by her on a daily basis As a mental health nurse she always provided patients with understanding and great compassionate care, never stepping away from the most challenging of them all. Her ability to work with the most ill population was almost magical and aided in their recovery. Her love presented on the unit every day at work. She loved to speak of both your strengths and your capability to love her in her worst and best moments. She spoke of your father and uncle as though her heart would explode. Joyce was my greatest supporter for the eight years I was the manager and without her I could not have worked as long as I did. I am blessed for knowing her,and I thank her for sharing both of you and Alexa with me. I miss her - I loved her smile, her laughter laughter, her sometimes sacraligic activities. She will always be a part of my life and I hope I will see her at the Golden Gates. You are in my prayers and I am always around if you need anything Find peace!

This is supposed to be a condolence site and I am sincerely sorry for the loss and sadness so many close to Joyce are feeling. I would like use use this page as a tribute to my dear friend in celebration of our very special friendship. I can't think of Joyce without smiling. We shared so much laughter; she was always full of good stories and game for a little mischief. Also, she was always ready to give me advice when we were young. She was a year ahead of me in age and at school. Back then, that was a big deal. Later on, our paths diverged and we were only in touch sporadically but when we got together we picked up right where we left off. I remember Maria and Tom-tom running around The Beachcomber. Each year when I stopped in to visit, they were a year older and a year taller. Over the years, our once-a-year day became a tradition. When the kids were grown, we began to look for interesting things to do, the races, out to dinner, or off to Joyce's favorite ice cream place in the middle of nowhere as far as I was concerned. Eventually, we ran out of ideas and just sat on the porch at her home talking for hours and hours. Here's a wonderful memory of the last bit of fun we had together: When I called to set up a visit this year, just two weeks ago, I frivolously suggested I bring her a candy bar. She said that would be great but it couldn't be just any candy bar, had to be special, like those Mallo Bars that she loved but hadn't found in years. For me, A CHALLEMGE! It took some detective work but, would you believe, I found them in the Northville dime store. She was thrilled! The next day she sent me a photo of a half eaten Mallo Bar, saying she was going to hide the rest and save it for tomorrow. So long my dear friend. I believe you have touched the lives of many, and made a difference.
