Obituary of Jean L. Bartholf

Jean L. Bartholf, 76, of Mayfield, died peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Born on September 11, 1942 she was the daughter of the late Robert Harvey and Mary (Harvey) Sutch and her husband Anthony.

A lifelong area resident, Jean graduated from Wells High School.  She worked at various companies including Mohawk Furniture and Speculator Department Store.  She also owned and operated her own business, Jean’s Ceramics.  Jean enjoyed going to Casinos, bowling, reading, doing puzzles and shopping.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

On October 6, 1962 she was united in marriage to Richard B. Bartholf.  That union lasted 52 blessed years until his passing on June 8, 2015.  She was also predeceased by her sister, Antonia “Toni” Wickes and her husband Edward, and a brother in law, Leonard Gerback.

Survivors include her three daughters, Judith Corp and her husband Charles, Janet Carter and her husband Thomas and Jennifer Abel and her companion Roger Barner; one sister, Deborah Gerback; eight grandchildren, Stephen Oare, Kevin Oare, Gregory Ille, Jeremy Oare, Raymond Abel, Matthew Carter, Richard Abel and Kristianna Buyce; seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11a.m at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, 1303 State Route 30, Wells, New York 12190 with Rev. Sony G. Pulickal, VF as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.  Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 5 until 7p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
