To Scott, Ursula, Jeff, Sherri, Steve, Bev, and Shawn,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of your wonderful mother. She was the kind of “friend’s mom” that everyone wishes they knew. There are very few places that have had as big an impact on my life as her house on Highland Terrace. Our band played in the attic, the cellar, and the garage; we played volleyball; skied down the back from the high school hill; built a fort; met girls; drank tons of beer; slept outside in the yard; skateboarded; played frisbee, football; stayed out late; raised hell; made tons of friends; and laughed hysterically.
All of that was possible because your mother understood that growing boys need lots of freedom in order to become men. We were all unbelievably lucky to have her as a “neighborhood mom” who tolerated and encouraged our shenanigans. No matter how long I live, those days spent on Highland Terrace will not only be some of my best memories, but they made me who I am.
Some years later, I was also very fortunate to work with your mother, who always laughed when I called her “Mrs. Pike” – “Oh Tony, call me ‘Eileen!’” she would say, but it was way too late for that. Every one of our friends who knew her, loved her dearly because she knew that growing up should be fun – and it was, thanks to her. We owed her much and it is to her memory that our lives are so rich. Thank you, Mrs. Pike – may you rest in peace.

Grandma,
Ive only known you for the past 3yrs, but it has been the best 3yrs I could ever ask for. You were the sweetest and most kindest person I know. You would always say hey every time you saw me outside. Every time I saw you I would ask how you were doing and if I seen you carrying groceries I would ask if you needed help. I remember last year during that bad snow storm I was helping the boys shovel and next thing I know I see you at the door with a camera telling me to smile. So I did a cheesy pose for you. Then you tried to get me to come inside and take a break. I said no. So I saw you watch from your window to make sure I was okay. I also appreciate the rides you use to give me to and from work before I got my car. You always knew how to make me smile. I promise all of our memories I will CHERISH forever! I promise that I will take care of Chris and Scott and Urs and Bowie. Bowie is getting along with Libby and hes eating and enjoying the backyard. He plays with tissue paper and runs all through the house. He is such a handsome boy. We will take very good care of him for you because we know that thats what you would have wanted. We will be okay. We just want you to know how much you will truely be missed. Just think now you can be with Grandpa again. I know hes excited. I sure am going to miss you so so much.
