Obituary of Betty C. Marcais

Mrs. Betty C. Marcais, 93, of Mayfield, NY, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1926 to Emmett and Lena (Hunter) Sweet.

 

In May of 1949 she was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Marcais of Mayfield, NY.  They were married for 43 wonderful years, until his passing in 1992.

    

Betty enjoyed cooking for her family. She also loved her home on the hill, overlooking the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, with her miniature farm and her dogs. Each and every one was a cherished member of her family, especially Brody, her surviving loving companion.

    

Her loving family includes her children, Crystal (Claud) Hinkle, Susan Hornbeck, E. Howard Marcais, and Arslene "Arcy" (George) Buyce; her son-in-law, John Knapp; her sister, Marilyn Elaine Yost; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

She is predeceased by her daughter, Teddi Knapp; her son-in-law, Jim Hornbeck; her brother, Charles "Bud" (Jeanette) Sweet; and her sisters, Dora D. "Dot" Manaia, Yvonne “Vonnie” Crannell, and Luella Lathrop.

    

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 5th at 12 noon, at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church, 22 North Main Street, Mayfield, NY, 12117 with Pastor Bonnie Orth presiding. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 11:00am until 12:00 noon at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Spay and Neuter Clinic at the Glen Animal Hospital, 221 Burley Road, Fultonville, NY 12072.
