Obituary of Ivan Martinez
Ivan Martinez, 60, of Amsterdam, NY, has gone to his eternal rest on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 with his family by his side.
Born on March 11th, 1959 in Yauco, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Manuel Martinez and Isabel Virola. Ivan attended school in Puerto Rico, and he relocated with his family to the area in 1982. Ivan dedicated 24 years to the Adirondack Knitting Mill that was once formally located in Amsterdam. Ivan was known as a free spirit who wanted to live his life on his own terms in his own way. He had a deep passion for restoring old cars. He was especially proud of his 1967 Belair, his 1960 Camaro, and his 1954 Ford truck among several others. Ivan loved to be out and about and be social. On his down time, when he wasn’t fixing cars, he like to spend his time gardening and raising rabbits. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Ivan is survived by his children, Ivan Martinez and Yahaira (Kenneth) Myers; his grandchildren, Issac Martinez, Marissa Myers, Alanis Seeley, Austin Myers, Celina Hoffman, Juliet Martinez, Victoria Martinez, and Vivian Martinez; his great granddaughters, Annalise Martinez, and A'Leah Hoffman; his brothers Idel Martinez and Julio Martinez. Ivan is predeceased by his parents Manuel and Isabel; his brother Hector Martinez; and his sisters Luz Aida Martinez, and Brunilda Martinez.
