Obituary of Anne M. Millington
Mrs. Anne M. “Anna May” Millington, 80, of S. Gray Road, Palatine Bridge, NY died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Born on July 20, 1938 she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Mulligan Hayes.
A lifelong area resident, Anna May was employed for Beech Nut as a forklift operator for over 35 years. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of the former St. James Roman Catholic Church in Fort Plain. She was also a member of the Moose, Eagles, The Red Hat Society, The Canajoharie Fire Department Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Catherine Esther #1264.
On August 3, 1957 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leland W. Millington. That union spanned 41years until his untimely passing in 1998. She was also predeceased by her brother John J. Hayes; and her beloved cat Blizzard.
Anna May was an adventurous soul. She enjoyed Fords, racing, supporting her boys in the band, and simply loving life. She took great pride in her home in “God’s Country” on S. Gray Road and her home in Florida. She also enjoyed bird watching, nature and always was up for a drive in either her Mustang or her Sport Trac. Anna May was proud of her Irish heritage, and always a true Irishman. She liked a cold beer, a great party, a good conversation and was always willing to help those in need. During her lifetime she was a mother and grandmother to many. Above all, she loved her family and friends dearly, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Veronica “Peaches” Vacca and her husband Peter of Northport, FL; her son, Joseph Millington and his wife Barbara of Palatine Bridge, NY; four grandchildren, John Vacca, Leanne Vacca, Joseph Millington Jr. and Tara Millington; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 1 o’clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with Deacon Joseph Cechnicki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s & Paul’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 4 until 7p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie. The Catholic Daughters will offer a Wake Service at 6p.m. for their sister.
