Obituary of Kathryn J. Potts

Mrs. Kathryn Potts, 86, of Hagaman, NY, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 30, 1933 to Frank and Kathryn F. (Wohrmann) Potts, in Amsterdam, NY.

Throughout her lifetime, Kathryn held many jobs, but she was most proud of her work driving her three axle dump truck. She was based out of Amsterdam, working with construction companies, but took her work to Florida during the winters when construction work was slow in New York. She was also very proud of her work as a mother, raising her seven children to become successful adults.

Kathryn loved to spend time with her family, and rough housing with her grandchildren. She also loved her grand-dogs and checked up on them often. She attended St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.

Kathryn is survived by her children; Floyd W. “Butch” Bornt Jr., Dave (Bonnie) Bornt, Todd “Mick” (Sharon) Bornt, Scotty (Gerri) Bornt, Shawn “Puda Joe” (Lori) Bornt, and Tammy “Piglet” (Mark) Holland. She is also survived by her grandchildren; James, Emily, Timothy, Andrew, Chris, Kara, Rosemary, Rebecca, Rachel, Scotty, Stephen, Rhiannon, Angelina, Preston, Kari, Bryce, and Aspen, as well as her sister Norma.

She is predeceased by her son, Randy, and her siblings; David, Charles, Edward, Herald, John, Franklin, Margaret, Mary, Marion, Rosemary, and Frances. Kathryn is also predeceased by her parents, and ex-husband and lifelong friend Floyd W. Bornt Sr. who she had begun her construction career with.

Funeral services will be held privately, at the family’s convenience. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
