Obituary of Barbara M. Jones

Barbara Mae Jones, 95, of Clinton Road, Canajoharie entered into eternal life on June 5, 2019.  Born on November 17 1923, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Bessie Hotaling Goodemote also of Canajoharie.  She was a lifelong resident and attended local schools.  She was predeceased by Herbert B. Jones, her husband of 66 years, and son, David H. Jones, of Canajoharie, New York.  She is survived by four daughters, Beth A. Fassett (Loren) of East Springfield, New York, Karen A. Cromie (James) of Mesa, Arizona, Diane L. Jones (Nick) of Tarrytown, New York, Robin K. Saltsman (David) of Canajoharie, New York; and Daughter-in-Law, Josephine Jones of Fonda, New York; two sons, Dr. Daniel R. Jones of Eloy, Arizona, and Clark C. Jones of Moundsville, West Virginia;  11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews.

Barbara was a longtime member of St. John's and St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Church Street, Canajoharie and served on the Altar Society. She was employed by the Canajoharie Manufacturing Company, formerly of Canajoharie, until her retirement.

Throughout her life she had a passion and great talent for sewing and working with fabrics, making clothes for her daughters, family and friends. She loved gardening and cooking.  She took great joy and pride in caring for her home and family.  She possessed an immense joy of music that she shared with her children.

Barbara was the epitome of what everyone's Mom and a home maker should be, loving  everyone she knew and those she met along the way, possessing a wicked sense of humor, the love of family activities, and played a mean game of dominos.  She will be greatly missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 3p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie.  Private interment will take place at the Fort Plain Cemetery.  A calling hour will precede the Celebration beginning at 1p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's and St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Canajoharie, New York or to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
