I’m so sorry to learn of Betty’s passing. She was an incredible woman. Always loved that she spoke from the heart, gave great, honest advice. Even as just a friend of the family she always made everyone feel like family.
She will be missed. My heart is with you as you remember her and celebrate her life.

To the DiCaprio and Gargiulo families: please receive our heartfelt condlolences upon the passing of our wonderful cousin Betty Anne.
The last time we saw Betty Anne was here in Paris where she was part of our wedding party for our daughter Monique’s wedding. .We will never forget her joy at being in Paris and her beautiful rendition of the Ave Maria at the ceremony.
As someone else so accurately put it a another tribute, she was truly a beautiful person both inside and out and we will not forget her
Unfortunately, we will not be back in the states until the evening of June 3rd which will be too late for the funeral . Please know that we are with you in spirit on this sad occasion
Sincerely, Richard and Gisele DiDonna

I was so saddened to hear of Mrs. DiCaprio's ("Mrs.D") passing. Mrs. DiCaprio was my 5th grade home room teacher during the 1981-82 school year. She was fair and kind and really cared for us kids and it showed. We all loved her for that. I remember in 1982, loaning my math workbook to a friend in class to copy homework. She took it home and came down with mono the next day (thanks, Heather Lebo) and I was without my math workbook for several days. I was terrified and each day Mr. Davey kept hounding me on why I kept "forgetting my workbook at home". Finally after a few days, I cracked. I walked to the front of the class where Mrs. DiCaprio was standing and admitted what happened in what equated to a small nervous breakdown. In tears, and apologizing profusely for what I did (to the shock and/or embarrassment of our entire class), Mrs. DiCaprio just hugged me and told me that everything was going to be Ok. And it was. I'm tearing up now just thinking about that day and it is an experience that has never left me and never will. She meant so much to all of us and my heart goes out to all of her family and close friends, as I'm sure she had so many. She may be gone from this Earth, but she will always live in the memories and hearts of those she touched over the years, and we too, are many.

My sincerest condolences to the family. Mrs, D was my 5th grade homeroom and reading teacher. She was one of my favorites and instilled a love of reading in me. Mrs. D always remembered me whenever I saw her as an adult. I had the pleasure of working with her when I worked in the Community Education Dept of St. Mary’s Hospital and she was a volunteer. I’ll always remember her beautiful smile, loving nature and the genuine person she was.

Your mother is in every memory I have of Tribes Hill and Sacred Heart Church. Her beautiful voice and the kindness she showed made you feel special to be in her presence. I had the honor of her singing at my wedding 20 years ago. I am so grateful to have known her. Heaven gained a beautiful voice to join the heavenly choirs. I am so very sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Mrs. DiCaprio, May you rest in eternal peace. Thank you for such beautiful memories.

Mrs. DiCaprio was a constant presence during my childhood growing up in Tribes Hill. She was my teacher for two years at FFCS, and she was my Sunday school teacher at Sacred Heart church. Even when I wasn't her student, I saw her every week at church, where she led the congregation on the organ and with her beautiful voice. Heaven's choir just gained a wonderful voice. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially all of the students whose lives she touched over the years. Sending love and prayers to her family.

I had the privilege of caring for Bette for a period of time in her home, where we developed a very special bond. She told me many stories about her life, career, students, family, and friends. We shared many laughs and even some tears. She was a beautiful, intelligent, quick-witted woman, and I will miss her always. Love you Bette.
Love,
Colleen

Mrs. D was my 5th grade teacher at Fonda. I have two memories to share about my time spent with her. During the year I had Mrs. D, I was hospitalized for a week. It was my first time in the hospital and I was very scared. Mrs. D took the time to send me cards and had my classmates send cards as well which was a great comfort to me during a frightening time. When I returned to school, she made me feel so loved and cared for. Also, at the end of the year, we had a field day with events for the different homerooms. I remember that all of the kids in our class desperately wanted to win the homeroom tug-o-war contest for Mrs. D. Unfortunately, we lost in the championship round and all of us were devastated, thinking we had let her down. At the end of the day, our last school day, we were in tears because we hadn't won for her and didn't want to leave and Mrs. D hugged each and every one of us as she sent us off to buses. It is these two examples of kindness and compassion that years later, helped me make the decision to become a teacher myself. Mrs. D treated her students with firm love, challenging us to become the best we could, supporting us and making learning safe and fun. She passed that legacy down to me and I hope that as I teach now, that I am able to pass along that same love and compassion to kids who need it. As her family, you must be very, very proud of the woman she was and how many people she has influenced with this kindness. Her simple gestures changed my life and through me, she is still impacting kids today. I'm very sorry for your loss of this incredible lady. I ran into Mrs. D a few years ago now and was able to share with her just what her influence was in my life. I'm grateful for the sacrifices she made as a teacher and I will always appreciate her resilient spirit and impeccable work ethic to make the lives of others better!
