Obituary of Eleanor J. Hernigle

       Mrs. Eleanor J. Hernigle, 82, of Sprakers, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 29, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. 

     Born in Little Falls, NY on May 5, 1936, a daughter of the late Russell and Mildred Harrington Klock.  She was raised in St. Johnsville on her family’s farm and was a 1954 graduate of St. Johnsville Central School. 

     Eleanor was employed for 28 years as a Machine Operator for the former Life Saver Co. in Canajoharie, NY.  Farming was a huge part of her life and loved working on the family farm.   She enjoyed being with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She loved to cook but above all she was a caregiver who took great care of her husband and family.

    She is survived by her loving husband Albert F. Hernigle whom she married on October 20, 1956.  They were married almost 63 years. 

     In addition to her husband survivors include her sons, William (JoAnne) Hernigle of Palatine Bridge, NY, Randy D. (Laura Lee) Hernigle of Sprakers, NY.   Sisters, Betty (James) Hernigle  of Sprakers, NY,  Barbara VanSchaick of Freys Bush, NY, Sally Emery of Fonda, NY and Judy Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA.  One brother, Peter (Karen) Klock of St. Johnsville,NY.    Cherished grandchildren, Stefanie (Eric) Ackerknecht, Travis Hernigle, Ryan Hernigle, Kristin (Travis) Cornell and Matthew Hernigle.  Great-grandchildren, Tanner and Grayson Ackerknecht and Dalton Cornell.  Many  nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

     She was predeceased by two sisters, Marilyn Fettinger and Gail Ford and  A dear family friend Cleora Mann. 

     Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 3, 2019 at 1:00Pm at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY with Rev. Robert DeMartinis presiding.  Interment will follow in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday prior to the funeral service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.   Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s memory to the Ayers Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Rd., Sprakers, NY 12166.
