Obituary of James V. Marcellino, Jr.
Mr. James V. Marcellino Jr., 90, of Fort Plain, NY, passed away peacefully at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, Florida on March 27, 2019 surrounded by his family. James was born on October 11, 1928; the son of James Marcellino Sr. and Beatrice Stafford Marcellino.
Following his graduation from Canajoharie High School in 1948, James enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952 serving in Japan and the Korean War. Afterwards, James worked at the Beech-Nut factory in Canajoharie for 37 years as a mason in the maintenance department. Jim retired in 1992 and spent his time gardening, enjoying his family and winters in Florida. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Lewis Marcellino, Betty Balis, Rita Empie and Carolyn Jesse.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Kilts Marcellino; two children, Jim Marcellino and his wife Janice of Ballston Lake and Cindy Bartlett and her husband Mark of Palatine Bridge; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Ryan Marcellino; one brother, Robert Marcellino and his wife Ruth of Holland, MI; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11a.m. at Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St, Canajoharie, NY. Interment will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery with military honors. A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10a.m. at the funeral home.
