Obituary of David E. Loucks, Sr.
David E. Loucks, Sr; age 76, of Johnstown, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, following a long illness.
He was born August 8, 1941 in Gloversville, the son of the late Edwin and Marion Hastings Loucks. A graduate of Gloversville High School, in his Junior year he was a starting member of the New York State Champion Cross Country Team. He later graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College. Following graduation he joined the US Air Force where he served with the Elite Security Service with Top Secret Crypto Access Clearance, a division of the National Security Agency.
David worked briefly with Close Publications as a display ad rep, then spent nearly twenty years as an account executive with Empire Blue Cross - Blue Shield. From there he became a registered rep for John Hancock for fourteen years. He was also an insurance broker for Wadell and Reed and Ship Financial Services before retiring in 2006. David was a prolific pen and ink artist and a writer of many short stories of fiction. He was also a lover of animals.
He was a member of the Fulton County Planning Dept; Lions Club, Elks Club, a councilman at St. Jame's Lutheran Church, Past-President of Gloversville Jaycees, a long-time member of the YMCA and played in the Old Professional Basketball League for many years.
David is survived by four children, Darren Loucks (Carol), Damon Loucks (Mary Ann), Melissa LaGreca (Chip) and David Loucks II (Winona); his companion, Jackie Emond; seven grandchildren, Tara, Samantha, Kady, Miranda, Jake, Sean and Brodie.
Following cremation David's family will have their own private memorial.
