Ricky, Mary Beth, Mike and Chris:
Your Dad was always eager to update us on all of your accomplishments and the new journeys your families have taken. And of course he would add a few memories of his own like his set-shots from half-court that were 3-pointers way before 3-pointers were actually 3-pointers. He will be missed by many.
Our deepest sympathies,
Marge and Bob Hoefs

Mike and Alison,
So sorry to hear of Sam's passing. He ran one of the best and cleanest restaurants in Amsterdam and was a wonderful father and role model of what a decent gentleman should be. I;m sure you will have many wonderful memories to treasure and reminisce about and to laugh over with your children and, I see, a granddaughter!
You are in out thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Ruth and Fred Castler

Our Sincere Condolences to All of Sam's Family, What a Dear Gentle Soul has gone to Heaven. Our Dad, Clem DaBiere, always talked about how honored he was to be invited to sit at the "Family Table" at the restaurant in his younger years. Growing up it was a special treat for us to dine there and have Sam take time to come sit with us for few minutes. Holding you close in prayer!

Beyond any number of delectable entree's was the family atmosphere of Pepe's restaurant. Mrs. Pepe would act as hostess and bartender, while Mr. Pepe worked the kitchen. More often than not, Mr. Pepe would find his way to your table and engage you in conversation, in my case, usually sports related
He particularly enjoyed comparing current basketball to the style played in his youth, including two-handed set shots.
Then there was the obligatory table magic, such as making his thumb extend and retract. Always light-hearted and upbeat.
Wonderful man (and wife) who produced a wonderful family.
Well done Sam Pepe!

Amsterdam lost a kind-hearted gentleman. Dinner after 4 o’clock mass on Saturdays was generally at Pepe’s. Sam always made us feel like we were joining him at his own table for dinner. After my husband passed I continued to bring the boys....it was their favorite place. While most people speak of Sam other attributes, the one that he shared with us was Sam, the artist! He use to amuse the boys by turning a placemat over and drawing pictures!
Surely the angels were lined up a Heaven’s gates awaiting his arrival.
My deepest condolences.

My Deepest condolences to the Family of Sam Pepe, Jr.
My late husband, Jim Griffin, and I would love to dine at Pepe's restaurant, a place that I had patronized with my parents, as a child. Sammy was fondly called Junior by my dad, the late Roy Brumley, and other patrons. Your father and mine, loved to get together to harmonize ole tunes at the bar, along with my grandfather, the late Smith Brumley. Whenever I came into Pepe's, Junior would come over to our table and recite a dissertation, that my grandfather had told him, many years ago. Your Dad, knew it word for word, but I cannot even remember what it was called. Junior said he loved when the Brumley brothers came into the bar, as he loved to croon with them. My father, grandfather, and uncles could sing in perfect harmony, and your Dad could sing very well too. So sorry that another wonderful member of our history has passed on, but now he and my Dad, and other singing relatives, can croon together up in those heavenly gates.
Sandra (Brumley) Griffin

To the Pepe Family;
Our sincerest sympathy and condolences to your family upon hearing of Sam's passing.
So many wonderful memories with the Pepe family especially around the Christmas Holidays and our many visits to the family restaurant.
I worked in the restaurant when I was a teenager and also later in life side by side with Sam for 6 months on weekends preparing side dishes for him.
It was our personal time to share with one another many wonderful stories, one of which was my fathers love for his mother , my Aunt Elizabeth. My dad was heartbroken when she passed away. We were young and all of us loved her dearly.
Sam was so proud of all his children, and grandchildren, often telling me of the wonderful things happening in their lives. He so loved each and everyone of you.
I was and always will be blessed knowing Sam and Katherine . They were so loving and kind to me.
God's Eternal Blessings Sam and God's Blessings to your family during this most difficult time. Our Love to all.
