How I will miss my visits with Aunt Rella, we so enjoyed each other. We shared a love of our flower gardens, especially her pink double impatiens. How her eyes would twinkle with excitement when she would hurry to show me new blooms on her miniature roses. The few times I could tear her away from her beloved kids at their Caroga camp, she would be so happy to come to our Sacandaga camp for a summer afternoon. She was with me when I pulled over to give a parked police officer a piece of my mind after he had ticketed my sister on her way to a memorial we had for our dad/Rella's brother at our camp that day. After I rolled up the window, the two of us laughed so hard we cackled! I will never forget the time she went on a genealogy tour with us and we were at a cemetery near Edinburgh that rises high above the Sacandaga and she kept saying over and over, "I just can't believe it! This is so beautiful!!" We loved talking about Auriesville Shrine, about how much she loved and appreciated her son and daughter-in-law and their kids, about our family history and about her mom/my grandmother, Grandma Dot's antiques and antics. She made me smile when she told me she ran into my dad a few months before he died. They were in Hannaford's and she said that they stood for quite a while, holding hands, while catching up. I hope she is already in a pink garden in heaven, hugging Uncle Bob and holding her brother's hand. Rest in peace Aunt Rella.
