Obituary of Kathryn Montanye

Kathryn Wemple Montanye, passed away peacefully Sunday February 24, 2019 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home in Gloversville.

Kathryn was born May 3, 1925 in Mayfield, NY the daughter of Henry and Norma Olson Wemple.

She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1942 as Valedictorian of her class. IN 1943, she graduated from the former Gloversville Business School.

She was employed in the Service Engineering Department at General Electric’s Schenectady Offices and later, at the office of the Alamo Express Co., Harlingen, Texas and the U.S. Air Base, Amarillo Texas.

She married Sanford L. Montanye in 1944 and they resided in Mayfield most of their lives.

She was predeceased in death by her husband in January 1999 and by her two daughters Susan Jean Montanye, in 2003 and Karen Lent in 2011; also by a sister Janis Dimick (Arthur) of Ghent, NY and a two brothers; Elwood Wemple of Mayfield, NY and  Robert Wemple and  sister-in-law Jean Morrison Wemple of Hurley, NY.

Survivors include one son-in-law Joseph Lent of Green Cove Springs, FL , two grandchildren; Loren Lent (Theresa) of Glenville, NY and Christopher Lent (Shanna) of Richmond, VA, also four great-grandchildren Evan, Jenna, Ashley and Cayden Lent, also several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Kathryn was a member of the Mayfield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Honoring Kathryn’s wishes, there will be no formal calling hours or funeral services.

There will be a Graveside Service at the convenience of the family in the spring time a Mayfield Union Rural Cemetery.
