Obituary of Rachel McConville
Rachel M. McConville, 77 of Amsterdam, passed away February 13, 2019 at Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care facility with her husband and daughter by her side.
She was born April 15, 1941 in Amsterdam NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Emanuele Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and a member of the class of 1960 at Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Rachel drove School Bus for the Perth Central School District and for the City of Amsterdam on the Sanford Austin route. She was also a Teacher’s Aide for the Greater Amsterdam School District. Rachel was a founding member of the Amsterdam High School Marching Rams Booster club, a Girl Scout Leader, and an avid bowler. She was a member of the Horace J. Inman Center and the Red Hats, as well as a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 56 years Daniel J. McConville Sr. of Amsterdam; sons Daniel Jr. (Peggy) of Malta, Patrick (Leslie) of Reno, NV, David (Teresa) of Amsterdam and a daughter Mary Jo (Tom) of Johnstown as well as her brothers Nicholas, Joseph (Shirley) and Raymond (Nancy) Emanuele. Sisters-in-Law, Patricia Faulkner and Gail McConville, Eleven grandchildren, Nine great-grandchildren, Thirty nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Frank and Joseph (Marlene) McConville and sister-in-law Sheila (Henry) Kokosenski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:15AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam, NY. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM at Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave Amsterdam, NY. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date.
