Obituary of Luella M. O'Bryan R.N.

Mrs. Luella M. O’Bryan R.N., 87, of West Galway, NY died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 9, 2019.  Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 24, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elsie Jones Hoffman.

A long time area resident, Luella was a graduate of Rutland Vermont High School in 1949.  In 1952 she graduated from the former Amsterdam City Hospital School of Nursing.  For over 40 years, she dedicated her life to the care of her patients.  She was employed first by the former Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, Rutland Hospital and the Homestead Infirmary in Barkerseville.  In 1994 she retired from the Saratoga County Department of Public Health.

On June 8, 1952 she was united in marriage to Lawrence B. O’Bryan.  That union lasted 47 years until his passing on May 9, 1999.  She was also predeceased by a brother, Clifford F. Hoffman in 2017.

Luella will be remembered for being a woman of great faith and love.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Thomas L. O’Bryan and his wife Karen, Ronald F. O’Bryan and his wife Cheryl, and Linda L. Rundell; her brother, Frederick H. Hoffman and his wife Sandra; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.  A calling period will be held prior to the service beginning at 11a.m.   Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  Burial will take place at a later date in West Galway Cemetery.  Please visit the online memorial at www.brbsfuneral.com
