Obituary of Mary Theresa Archase

        Mary Theresa Archase, 96, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday,  January 31, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam. 

     Mary was born in Amsterdam, NY on May 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Benedetto and Carmela Lopinto Nardo.  She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. 

   In her younger years,  Mary was employed at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY and the former Luries Department Store in Amsterdam until her marriage in 1955.   Mary was a homemaker and loved her family most of all.  She enjoyed trips to the Casino with her husband,  solving crossword puzzles and going to OTB.    For the past three years she was a resident of the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam where she enjoyed Bingo and happy hour.  She loved the staff and all of her friends there. 

          She married John Archase in 1955 a union that lasted 55 years until his passing in 2010.

     She is survived by her daughter, Donna Landrio (Bob Reali) of Amsterdam, grandsons, Michael (Amber) Landrio of Amsterdam and Kyle (Monica) Landrio of Belchertown, Ma.   A sister, Catherine (Thomas) Cirillo of Amsterdam, NY, great-grandchildren, Karolina and Alton Landrio of Belchertown, MA.   She is also survived by nieces, nephews and a very dear friend, Sandra Guillen.

     Beside her husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Josephine Manasseri and Antoinette Mancini,  brothers, Frank and Nick Nardo.

     Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, with Father Pascal “Pat” Iannotti presiding.  Interment will be in the spring in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Fonda, NY.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday prior to the funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.    Please leave condolences online at www.brbsfuneral.com
