Obituary of Robert P. Johnson

Robert P. Johnson, age 75, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. He had recently resided with his son and family in Wells, NY.

He was born December 6, 1943 in Gloversville, the son of the late Howard and Jane Galway Johnson. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and later worked as a mechanic at Jack’s Gulf Service Station, Sherwood Smith Motors, Rua and Sons and H & P Motors. He eventually opened Johnson's Auto Repair in Gloversville along with his son Rob.

Bob is survived by a son, Robert Johnson and his wife Rene of Wells; a sister, Delores Ferguson of Broadalbin; five grandchildren, Joshua Johnson (Marisa), Alyssa Johnson, Sierra Mauro, Karyssa Johnson and Kegan Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Joseph Rajkowski; and two brothers, Frank Andrews and Terrance Johnson.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, January 18 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Memorial Service will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
