Kelley Kubas

Obituary of Kelley Jean Kubas

Kelley Jean Kubas was granted her angel wings on Wednesday January 9, 2019.  Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Kelley had deeply touched throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Kelley's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile could always melt the hearts of those around her and though she struggled to speak, her voice and thoughts could always be heard.

Although Kelley's brain injury made her appear frail, she possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage, she led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. She loved music, making others laugh and could spend hours listening to family or friends visit with one another, never shy to add her two cents.  She loved the color purple and listening to the sounds of her nephew Brody's laughter, which would always make her smile.

Kelley was born on November 18, 1980 in Whittier, Ca.  As a young girl, Kelley had great compassion for every living thing; a wounded animal, a bullied classmate, or an elderly person needing help crossing the road.  She was a tomboy through and through.  She preferred blue jeans and a sweatshirt, and boys that wore the same.  Kelley was the sweetest tomboy you could ever meet.

With Kelley's passing, we remind each other that her life is one to be celebrated.  We will miss her every day, especially her winning charm.  She will forever remain in our hearts. Through her teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her parents.

Kelley leaves behind many wonderful caregivers from Lexington Center, that provided love and support that enhanced her quality of life.  All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Kelley with love and dignity in her life and also in her death.

Kelley is survived by her loving parents, Chuck and Polly Kubas of Stillwater, NY; brother Charlie Kubas, his wife Karen and nephew Brody of Saratoga, NY, and many, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
