Obituary of Edward A. Bernier

Edward, A. Bernier Jr. 85, of Albany, NY, went to his eternal rest on January 5th, 2019.

Born on January 6th, 1933 in Worcester, MA, Edward was the son of the late Edward Sr. and Mildred (Taillon) Benier. Edward graduated from Worcester Classical High School and the Worcester School of Business Science. He worked briefly at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette and Brown Shoe Co. before enlisting in the US Navy in 1952, where he served four years as an Electronics Technician. Upon discharge, he was employed by IBM for 31 years and retired in 1987 in Austin, TX. As an IBM employee, he attended various classes at Ulster County (NY) Community College and the New York University system at New Paltz and Buffalo. Ed had been a resident of Broadalbin, NY since 1990 where he shared a home for over 40 years with his loving partner Lois Foss Johnson of Amsterdam, NY. Edward was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, his life-long hobbies were; oil painting, woodworking, and reading world history.

Edward is survived by his longtime companion Lois Foss Johnson; his daughters, Aline (Guy) Babin, Kate (Johan) Aarnio, and Susan (Joseph) Primo; his sons, David (MaryLynn) Bernier, and Christopher Bernier; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and his brother, Donald Bernier. He is predeceased by his wife Marie Farnstrom Bernier, and his sister, Ruth Bernart.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, January 9th 2019 at 12 p.m. at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Edward will be interred at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY 12177 in the spring at the discretion of the family.
