Hello family of terry. My husband and i knew terry back from 2015 when terry so kindly sold us our toyota and from then on i warn to him for any questions or concerns i had with our vehicle. We even stopped in after we had moved back to have him meet our little girl back in the beginning of 2017. He was a great man and he was so helpful when i came to bug him even if it wasnt his area of expertise. He was so funny and always made sure we left with a smile. I can not find any other person that i meet at a dealership that will ever compare to him. He was a genuinely great person and i appreciated him so much for it. I cannot believe that he has left us and i hope everyone is doing good and working through wrough times.

i worked with Terry at Combined Life Insurance. He was outgoing personable and I always liked going to his home because the dog would always greet you. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met, and will be definitely be missed. My condolences to his family. God bless all of you at this difficult time.

We are relatives on Alan's side of the family. While we didn't know Terry well, Jackie Sutphen always kept us current on all the extended Sutphen clan. Our sincere condolences go out to his entire family, especially Al and Shari. Wish he wasn't taken so young.

I used to work with Terry at Combined Insurance. Whenever we would travel, we would always find ourselves at the pool table after dinner. We had so much fun, and so many laughs. Terry was a wonderful person, who was always kind with his people, and he had the respect of his peers. He will be missed.. RIP Terry. My prayers are with the family.

I was fortunate enough to have played some music with Terry. I will always remember the very first time in Lake Placid at our apartment in The Parkside Lodge across from the beach. I had the reputation of being able to play fast lead guitar. He was filling in for our drummer who had taken to chasing girls rather than rehearsing.
So he gets behind the drum kit and has that smile on his face. He played amazing especially for never having heard the original song (Nitro) we were playing. He had heard about my fast playing and clearly decided to test me. So the tempo increased and then increased again and again and at some point it seemed we were playing at an impossible speed and the song literally exploded. I used to have a boom box recording of this and can still hear it in my head to this day and am loving replaying it again at this very moment. So another friend and musician who was playing rhythm guitar this day, Pierre Suzanne, hits a couple perfectly placed harmonic notes bringing the song back to earth.
The following day I was listening to this boom box recording that had no right sounding this great and it was so amazing and beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. Unfortunately I lost this precious recording somewhere along the way. I wish I had it to share with all of you. I am pretty sure Rich Merritt was in the room that day at Parkside Lodge in Lake Placid.
RIP Terry and know that you made an impression that will last a lifetime. My condolences to your wife, family and loved ones.

There are so many memories I have of Terry. Some good.. some scary and some a bit crazy... But none of them I would ever trade. Terry was all about living life to the fullest..He was pretty much " all-in" whatever he decided to do... You gotta love that about a person...He taught me many things over the years.. like having the courage to do the things you want to do...I am glad that I had a chance to thank him for that...Every time before Terry would end a conversation with me he would say: " Hey , who loves ya" I will miss that.
I will miss him dearly. Even though we didnt talk that much after the band days when we did it was as if we never stopped. That is a true friend... Terry I love you brother..and we will meet again....and we will rock out........Deb and Family....my heart goes out to you all... we have lost a light that is true.. but only in this world...I am certain that it is still lit .. most likely on fire.. somewhere else... Love and peace to all.....

My condolences to Terry’s loved ones.
I have so many fond memories of friendship and making music with Terry over the years...I remember at 13 years old, being at Terry’s house and we’d be sneaking into Al’s and Bumps jam room and jamming on their music gear(before Al or Sherry got home!),
And, over the next 20 or so years... being lucky enough to share in Terrys unmatched fun spirit and energy, together we made some fine music with Fred and the Band, Troy Thorbahn, Chris Russell, and Matt Russell, and Richie Merritt, (the gigs at the roller rink) and Tim and John, Mick,Bump, Al,Rich, hundreds of gigs with Dave and Davis and Paul...
Such fun times. Terry will always be remembered.

One of my best friends in high school, Terry “Little Bon” Sutphen was always good natured, a quick wit and an insane drummer. I was proud to have been his band mate for a few years back then. I’ve not been in touch with him in more than 30 years and am saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and loved ones.
