Obituary of Doris Lee Hutchins
Doris Lee Hutchins, known to many as Lee, 94, of Albany, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 05, 2018, with her loving family nearby.
Born on June 30th, 1924 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late William Mohnkern and Dora Crossfield. Doris graduated from Poplar Buff High School. She dedicated many years to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine as an administrative assistant. She was joined in marriage to Ernest J. Hutchins on October 13th, 1944. It was a strong union full of love and devotion, with an incredible teamwork that lasted until his passing on September 19th, 2007. Doris was strong in her faith and was a member of the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She also attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake Worth, Florida for many years with her husband. She and Ernest were proud to serve as Matron and Patron of the Eastern Star in Kittery, Maine. Doris led an active life. Whether it was water skiing, snow skiing, sail boating, playing tennis, or playing golf, she loved to participate in activities outdoors with her family. Doris was a very sweet and caring woman. Her fortitude and fearlessness of life was inspiring. She was always very concerned and attentive to her family, especially her grandchildren and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Doris is survived by her son Ernest J. (Heidi) Hutchins Jr. of Birch Bay, WA, her daughter Diana L. (Paul Phillips) Kolsbun of Amsterdam, NY, and her grandchildren, Philip C. Abrams, Darlina L. (Bruce) Jones, Delora L. (James) Cowman, and Matthew E. Hutchins. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Dora Mohnkern and her beloved husband, Ernest.
A Funeral Service for Doris will be held on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 at 1:30PM at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. Judy Humphrey Fox presiding. A Visitation will take place from 12:30-1:30PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family and will take place at the Orchard Grove Cemetery in Kittery, Maine where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to The Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
