Obituary of Peter J. Terplak

Mr. Peter J. Terplak, 52, of Amsterdam, NY passed away in his sleep on Friday, November 23, 2018.  Born on April 12, 1966 he was the son youngest child on the late Emma and Stephen Terplak Sr.

A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, Peter attended schools in Fort Johnson and Amsterdam and graduated from AHS in 1987.  Following graduation, Peter entered in to the Liberty ARC programs where he thrived.  He has been at the Inman Center for the past 10 years. Peter derived much happiness from spending time with family, pets and watching favorite TV shows like the Dukes of Hazzard. Due to ill health, he moved into the Liberty Home at 55 Van Dyke Avenue in July.  He enjoyed his time there making new friends and being cared for by the staff, who treated him like family.

He is survived by his brother, Stephen Terplak Jr. and his wife Yvette of Altamont, NY and his sister, Katherine Hazzard and her husband Gary of Amsterdam, NY; his brother- in- law, Wayne Satas of Amsterdam, NY; his nieces and nephews, Stephenia Jane Finch, Jennifer Terplak-Pasquini (Paul Pasquini, Sr), Shana (Chris) Smith, Stephen (Lisa) Terplak III, Samantha Hazzard (Brian Kinley) and Wayne A. (Laura) Satas. He also had six grand nieces and nephews.

Peter was predeceased by his parents and his sister Alicia Satas.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11 o’clock at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam with the Very Rev. Neal P. Longe officiating.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
