Obituary of Linda C. Everson
Linda C. Everson, 74, of Chapel Place, Amsterdam, died peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 12, 1943 she was the youngest daughter of Harold and Elizabeth “Betty” Schaepe Everson.
A lifelong area resident, Linda was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She went on to attend the State University of New York at Plattsburgh where she graduated with a degree in School Nursing. She was employed by the West Seneca Central School District for a short time before moving back to Amsterdam. She worked for the State of New York Department of Transportation in Albany. She then went on to work for the family business, Mary & Bells Floral Shop until her retirement.
Linda was a selfless individual who shared her love and friendship with many, especially her nieces, nephews and cousins. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and taking care of others. She was the recipient of the Eagle Scout Mentor award presented by her nephew Daniel. Linda was affiliated with United Presbyterian Church and donated many hand crafted items to their missions. Linda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Carol E. Burrell.
Survivors include her sisters, Jean (Frank) Slocum of Unadilla, NY and their daughters and their families; Mary (William) Giles of Buffalo, NY and their daughters and their families; her niece Lynne (Jim) VanEps and their children, Daniel, Andrew, Catherine and Maggie; two nephews, Hugh Burrell and Doug Burrell and his children Connor and Marcus; and her cousins.
A Prayer Service will be offered on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 10a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
