Obituary of Bonita James Keaney
Bonita James Keaney, known to many as “Bonnie” 62, of Amsterdam, NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Sunday, November 18th, 2018.
Born on August 31st, 1956, in Boston Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late James Michael Keaney and Patricia Ann Sweeney. Bonnie was an avid animal lover who would always support various animal shelters. She was always well put together and made sure she was organized at all times. Bonnie was very close to her father James. She took great pride in the exceptional care she was able to provide for him. She remained close to his side until he lost his battle with cancer on January 28th, 2010. Much of her morals, courtesy, and respect that she learned from him she continued to pass on to her own family. She was a very strong and resilient woman whom like her father, courageously faced every aspect of her life. Like her father, Bonnie fought cancer as well for many years until her body could no longer withstand the battle. Bonnie was a proud grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a very loving, kind, and nurturing mother, sister, and friend to many people. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and close friends.
Bonnie is survived by her beloved children, Damian (Bridgett Walrath) Carella, Nicole Carella, and Derek Carella; her grandchildren, Zachary, Gianna, Bella, and Damianna Carella, Leah, Gabriella, Rocco, and Alessandra Carella, Derek, Nevaeh, Natalie, and Cole Carella; her former longtime companion Michael Carella; her sisters, Robin (Blaine) Wiltey and Bethany (Kevin) Dillon; and her brother Thomas (Glenda) McDonough; Many more loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Bonnie is predeceased by her father James Keaney; her mother and her stepfather Patricia and Francis McDonough; her sisters, Rosemary, Patricia, and Francine McDonough; and her brothers, Timothy, Matthew, and Francis McDonough.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Arsyl De Jesus, and the staff of New York Oncology Hematology in Amsterdam for all of the wonderful care and support Bonnie received there. She was very fond of them and their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
