Obituary of Vito E. Damico
Vito E. Damico, 68, of Carmichael Street, Amsterdam died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
A lifelong area resident, Vito was born on July 19, 1950 the son of the late Christopher and Bernice Bassett Damico. Vito was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and spent most of his life in Flat Creek working on the family farm. He was also a member of the Moose and the Eagles and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan as well as enjoyed watching NASCAR. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In recent years, Vito worked for the Greater Amsterdam School District, Green Trucking, Browns Transportation and Alpin Haus.
He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved Aunts, Margaret Vianese, Anna Stearns, Mary Thomassen, Vitta Davis, Angie Damico and Marion Vianese; and his brother-in-law, Larry Mabie.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Greco Damico; his children, Kimberly Brown and her husband Robert of MA, and Jessica Richmond and her husband Brian of Ballston Spa, NY; step- children, Lisa Jurcsak and her companion Billy Yager of Perth, NY, and Joseph Jurcsak and his wife Tracy of Mayfield, NY; two sisters, Angie Marie Robinson and her husband Doug of Amsterdam, NY and Patricia Mabie of Canajoharie, NY; six grandchildren, Thomas, Shane, Caleb, Cameron, Chloe, Casey; his mother-in-law, Mary “Nanny” Greco; his brothers-in-law, Samuel Greco and his wife Karen and Tony Greco and his wife Joan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 6p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 4p.m. All are invited to attend. Burial will take place privately in the family plot at St. Peter’s & Paul’s Cemetery in Canajoharie.
