Obituary of Madge M. Montanye
Madge M. Montanye, 85, of the Great Sacandaga Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at home following a long illness.
She was born on December 18, 1932 in Gloversville, New York, and was one of seven children to the late Harrison and Anne Ormill. She was the beloved spouse for over 55 years to the late Eldon W. Montanye. She was the loving mother of Eric W. Montanye (Pam), of Rexford, NY and Todd W. Montanye (Emily) of Mayfield, NY and the cherished grandmother of Craig W. Montanye, Allison M. DiPietro (Andy), Derek W. Montanye, and Kelly N. Montanye.
Madge was employed at St. Thomas Gloves, General Electric Co; and retired from MCA Records after over 28 years of service as a Quality Control Supervisor in the Company’s tape department.
She was an avid gardener, spending days tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed Tuesday luncheons with the Boat Ladies but most of all; she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the adored aunt to many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special relationships with the Volante family of Needham, MA and Donna Yerdon of Johnstown, NY.
She was preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters, Harrison Ormill, Thomas Ormill, Francis Stewart, Helen Richardson, Harriet Paul, and Lillian Miklos.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4pm on Sunday, November 4 at Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home at 51 Fremont Street in Gloversville, NY. At the same location, a funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday. The Reverend R.W. Williams will officiate.
Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield, NY.
