Obituary of Amy Steenburg
Amy L. (King) Steenburg, 29, of Amsterdam, NY, died suddenly in a tragic car accident on Saturday, October 6, 2018 with her husband Axel Steenburg, her three sisters Abigail Jackson, Allison King, and Mary Dyson as well as her brothers-in-law Adam Jackson and Robert Dyson, and several other friends.
She was born on October 10, 1988, in Plattsburgh, NY, to Thomas and Linda King. Amy was a graduate of Greater Amsterdam School District, Fulton Montgomery Community College with a Nursing Degree, and Plattsburgh State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. In college Amy played for the Plattsburgh State’s soccer team. At the time of her death Amy was working to obtain her Master’s Degree in Nursing Home Administration, and was employed for the New York State Justice Center as a Death Investigator during the week, and on the weekends worked as a Nursing Supervisor at River Ridge Nursing Home. Amy was a proud “mommy” to her fur baby, Lady, and a devoted wife to her loving husband Axel.
Amy is survived by her parents; Linda and Thomas King, two brothers; Christopher (Kerri) Schramm of Massapequa Park, NY, Thomas A (Bethany) King of Fultonville, NY, one sister; Jennifer (Floyd) Guerin of Chazy Lake, NY, her in-laws; Janet (Dutch) Steenburg, brother-in-law Eric (Victoria) Steenburg, her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Adrian and Marie King of Dannemora, NY and Marie and George Janos of Milwaukee, WI, uncles Rick Janos, Steve King, aunt Betty King, and cousin Gary King.
A Gathering for Family, Friends & The Community will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 3 until 7p.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50- 52 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. On Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 1 o’clock, A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the church. All are welcome to attend. Private burial will occur at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Archer and Elle Jackson, and Isaac Dyson for their futures.
