Obituary of Roger W. Edwards
Roger W. Edwards, age 84, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville.
He was born July 26, 1934 in the Town of Johnstown, the son of the late Charles and Margaret McLaughlin Edwards. He was 1951 graduate of Mayfield Central School. He was co-owner of Model Dairy Farm with his father and brother until it was closed in 2000.
Roger was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church and the Lazy-8 Radio Control Club. He was also a member of the Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Dept. since 1958. He was on the Department's Old Smokies Racing Team and he held a record for equipment racing at one time.
He loved hiking in the woods, but his favorite pastime was building radio-controlled airplanes.
Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nila Rhodes Edwards; a daughter, Marcia St. Clair (Jeff) of Chicago; a brother, Robert Edwards (Linda) of Northville; four grandchildren, Desiree Capobianco, Christine Angus (Ashley), Jamie Edwards and Matthew Edwards (Liz); four great-grandchildren, Jordan Capobianco, Tyler Capobianco, Kaileigh Angus and Ethan Angus; as well as several nieces, nephews and a cousin.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Douglas W. Edwards and a brother and sister-in-law, David and Lois Edwards.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating.
