Obituary of Anna M. Vassi
Anna M. Vassi, 93, of Amsterdam, NY passed away September 7, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 21, 1925 in Dolgeville, NY to the late Angelo and Rose (Fusco) Cicciarelli.
Anna is survived by her sons Benjamin (Helene) Vassi of Broadalbin, Michael (Suzie) Vassi of Williamsburg Virginia, Anthony Vassi of Amsterdam, Richard (Patty) Vassi of Latham, Joseph Vassi of Alexandria Virginia,and daughter-in-law Shelly Vassi of Del Ray Florida. Also by her loving grandchildren Justin Vassi, Danny Vassi, Luke Vassi, Benjamin Vassi Jr, Frank Vassi, Theresa Marrero, Andrea Batch, Jennifer Julca, Aaron Julca, Jonathan Julca, Seth Dunn, and Jonathan Vassi,and Six great grandchildren. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by a son Frank Vassi, and a brother Louis Cicciarelli.
During her lifetime she was a member of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the Order of Discalced Carmelites of Guadalupe formally of Schenectady, and a member of the Ladies of Charity. During her earlier days she graduated from Union Free high school in Dolgeville, NY and business school in Utica, NY. Before having children Anna worked for GE as an Executive Secretary, then a housewife during her children growing up, and when her husband got ill she went back to work as a secretary at Mohawk Finishing in Amsterdam.
Anna was loved by everyone that came in contact with her. She cherished her family and friends and had an endless reservoir of love and affection. A woman with a boundless love for God and strong catholic faith,which was her core, and has seen her through life’s trials and tribulations. The world has lost a beautiful soul this day.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday September 11, 2018 at 11:15 am, family will receive guests at 10:30, at the Historical St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Fr. Jeffrey M. L’Arche, M.S. as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot of the St. Michael’s Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
In lieu of flowers contribution in Anna’s memory may be made to the Wildwood Programs, 2995 Curry Road, Schenectady, NY 12303.
