Obituary of Jean Adair Wilson
Jean Adair Wilson passed away on Monday, September 3 2018 at the age of 91.
She was born to Lt. Col. Peter J Rogers and Catherine Laning Rogers on January 14, 1927 in Amsterdam NY. A lifelong area resident, Jean attended local schools and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1944 when she became employed at the New York Telephone Company as a Service Assistant in the Traffic Department where she worked until 1957. Jean was wed to Gerald M. Wilson on May 8 1955; they remained lovingly married until his passing on October 6 1979.
Jean was heavily involved in her local church community as a devoted parishioner and founding member of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church located at 9 Trinity Place in Amsterdam. She was the coordinator of Parents Assisting Youths Tutoring Program at William B. Teclar Schools, and founded the Littlest Angels Playschool at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in 1973.
Jean is survived by her goddaughter Kathleen (Jim) Burrell, their daughter Kristen Quist, godson Ralph (Leisa) Carp Jr., Danielle (Mike) Stone and their children Tyler, Ella, and Lexii. Holly Burrell, Brian (Sandra) Burrell, Jacqueline (Warren) Burrell, lifelong friends Audrey Reichel, and Jane Vanallen, many more dear and precious friends, as well as her family at the Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years Gerald Wilson, as well as her beloved parents Peter and Catherine Rogers.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, September 7 at Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church 9 Trinity Place, Amsterdam at 5 o’clock in the evening. Family and friends are invited to call at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Friday, September 7 from 4 o’clock to 5 o’clock prior to the service. Burial will take place at Bath National Cemetery where Jean and her husband Gerald will be reunited, on Monday September 10 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
