Obituary of Mary A. Leone

Mary A. Leone, age 81, of Broadalbin, passed away at home peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.

She was born on August 31, 1936 in Milano, Italy. The daughter of Antonio DeFalco and Vitina Francis Leone, Mary was educated in Italy.  Mary was wed to Andrea P. “Scooter” Leone in Milano, Italy on October 11, 1956. Mary and Andrea lived together in Germany for one year until relocating to the Amsterdam area in October of 1957, where they remained lovingly married until his passing on August 16, 2004. 

Mary was employed as a Home Health Aide for 25 years, most recently dedicating her time to the Community Health Center of Johnstown where she retired from on November 14, 2003. She was a devout parishioner of Adirondack Baptist Church in Gloversville and also had a love for her pets, especially Milo and Jasper.

Mary is survived by her daughter Tammy A. (Tom) Palmateer of Amsterdam, son Andrea D. Leone of Albany, brother Guiseppe (Matilda) DeFalco of Italy,  two grandchildren Sara and Joseph Migdal, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Andrea, as well as her parents Antonio and Vitina. Also by a brother Donato DeFalco, and aunt Adelaide Negro.  

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11 o’clock in the morning at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam NY 12010. Calling hours will be held the night prior on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 5 to 7 o’clock in the evening at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Burial will take place following services on Wednesday at St. Michael’s Cemetery next to her late husband.
